Responsible for the website and Internet marketing for an industry leader in chemoinformatics and bioinformatics. Oversee Internet-based customer relations; prepare marketing analyses for institutional and academic site licenses; manage emailing in four languages; organize "Webinars" (live on-line video presentations).

Senior Analyst, Technology Planning & Management Corporation 2000 - 2004

Responsible for providing analysis and web sites for accessing databases from EPA, GIS, and other sources, as well as for requirements analysis and design specifications. Managed projects from the requirements analysis phase through implementation and documentation.

For the Massachusetts Watershed Initiative of the Executive Office of Environmental Affairs, researched and published the 5-Year Watershed Action Plan for the North Coastal Watershed.

For ACCSP, the Atlantic Coastal Cooperative Statistics Program, developed database and reporting tools for annual survey of recreational fisheries catch data, organizing 23 years of NMFS surveys with several million data points, into reports for trend analysis and regulatory assessment.
For the Tucson Water Department, developed tools for public and press to "data mine" the drinking water database. The Tucson project includes several GIS components, fully integrating large-scale databases with high-detail maps for simultaneous graphic and tabular analysis.
For the Water ISAC (Information Sharing and Analysis Center), conducted the requirements analysis in a collaborative project between EPA and DOJ.
For the Mid-Atlantic Integrated Assessment project (MAIA), developed a "virtual office" community web site and document library management system, which can be applied as a "collaborative authoring" tool for other EPA projects.

Technology Director, Reich for Governor Committee 2001 2002

Responsible for campaign web site, e-mail list, headquarters database and network, and oversight and management of 30 volunteers in technical fields, local organizers, Spanish translation, and opposition research. Designed and managed the web site, RobertReich.org.

Political Website Developer, the Speakout Foundation. 1999 – 2000

Content Manager, http://www.issues2000.org (now OnTheIssues.org) and Speakout.com

Developed an interactive Web site, which presents the Presidential and Senate candidates’ views on election issues. Managed content, arranged advertising, supervised staff of content providers (and supervised on-line volunteer staff), created and maintained Web pages.

Site logged 70,000 viewers per day during the 2000 election cycle, and over one million people took the "VoteMatch Political Affiliation Quiz." Syndicated via the "SpeakOut.com" group of Web sites. Featured in articles ranging from The Wall Street Journal to Rolling Stone magazine; featured on the televised presidential primer on PBS Frontline; and numerous other publications.

During the 2004 election cycle, site logged 100,000 viewers per day, and included content licensing to several clients. Website was featured in George Washington University's Institute for Politics, Democracy, and the Internet’s study entitled "Pioneers in Online Politics," (Aug. 2004) among other publications. During 2003, made the first state-level version, www.MassScorecard.org, which was featured in the Boston Phoenix (Sept. 10, 2004), among other publications. Granted a "blogger press pass" to the Democratic National Convention, resulting in several radio appearances.

Project Leader: Systems Analysis & Implementation, Vantage Group Services, Inc. 1998 – 1999

(Bulk mail service company providing list management, mailing and tracking services to non-profit organizations.)

Created and maintained budget, accounting and data management tools. Supervised and coordinated two direct reports and trained 25 staff members. Secured buy-in from key decision makers. Provided cost estimation, analysis documentation and quality control. Met tight deadlines under pressure.

Challenge: render a new $5M computer system operational. Performed needs assessment, identified problems, fixed parameters, set up system and trained staff. Result: system is up and running.

Slashed costs by $500K a year and time by 50 percent by setting up a system to do list processing in-house and by bringing donation response system in-house.

System Analyst/Revenue Planning Coordinator, Houghton Mifflin Company 1996 – 1998

Set up automated system to collect data, control inventory and forecast demand, eliminating 640 staff hours per cycle and providing inventory-related process efficiencies.

Initiated an Internet-based Revenue Planning system that created individualized reports for 150 sales reps. And an integrated management report aiding tracking of revenues and account information.

Reduced data processing time by 50 percent with the creation of an intranet to provide data on 1M+ schools to corporate strategists and marketing executives. Included ad hoc query capabilities.

Environmental Policy Analyst, Buffalo River Stewardship Foundation, Ltd. 1995 – 1996

One of the founding members of a non-profit organization to protect the Buffalo National River in Arkansas. Startup activities included writing the successful 501(c)(3) application, writing several successful grant proposals, building a membership base, and networking with government and NGOs. Researched environmental, economic and political impacts.

Initiated and produced quarterly membership journal, "The Steward." Editor-in-Chief for first two issues.

Set up computer systems for desktop publishing, membership maintenance, and bookkeeping.

Management and IT Consulting, Jesse Gordon Associates 1981 – 1995

Management Consultant: NEC Corp., International Purchasing Offices

Designed and implemented an international procurement/export system including a satellite communication system between Tokyo headquarters and international offices. Results: drastically cut ordering time and slashed costs by allowing comparison-shopping and standardized reporting.

In the mid 1990s, converted the system to PC networks using Internet-based communications.

Programming Consultant

Provided computer software consulting to clients in 7 states and 6 countries. Applications included accounting, managerial information, scheduling and educational testing.

Computerized more than 25 businesses and wrote custom software solutions.

Wrote a job costing system for efficient, accurate reporting for government and private sector contracts.
